RESOURCES AND REFERRALS
The Latino Resource Center
acts as an information center for the Latino population in Jackson, responding to over
500 cases per month. The LRC is a liaison between the Latino community, government agencies and
businesses. Working closely with private and public entities,
the LRC ensures that Spanish speaking community
members have equal access to services and programs.
Tax Program
In collaboration with the Teton County
Library, the LRC
sponsors Bilingual Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
Workshops. This program assists low income taxpayers
with tax preparation and filing. Through this
program, 800 low income individuals have filed returns since 2004.
Life Skills Cooking Classes
A popular series of Life Skills Cooking Classes are
creatively designed to instill confidence and combat
isolation in
the women of the Latino community. Classes
are a social event with an educational component
addressing issues like family nutrition on a
budget, domestic violence, and literacy.
